Don Mossi rookie year 1.94 ERA and 6-1 his loss a typical 10.1 IP 1 ERA 4 hit GSC 84 . What great nicknames ears or sphinx followed it up in 1955 by having a 0.33 ERA in first 15 relief appearances 27 IP 1 ER 3 BS his runs/ER 7-1. What a scary presence on the mound of just turned dirt.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a copy online, but I had a picture from the newspaper of Roger McDowell wearing a giant ogre halloween mask - I'm pretty sure it was during his Phillies years ('89 - '91). That year, I had him on my Strat-o-Matic team, and my "playing" photocopy of his S-o-M card had the 'R' of his first name accidentally cut off. So I taped the picture to the back of the card, and for the rest of the year, my long man in the bullpen was "Oger McDowell."
I had a monster year...

I also noticed that Danny Graves pitched in that Young, Frank, and Stynes game, too. Batting leadoff for Cincinnati that day was Pokey Reese "s Pieces". Reggie "Bar" Sanders pinch hit for Graves late in that game.
The Astros players that day included Jeff Bagwell. Bringing home trick or treat candy in a bag, well, that's how it's done. Unless you use an old pillow case. Also Dave "I want a" Clark "Bar". (My usual Chris Berman name for him is Dave Clark "Thirty-Five", a reference to the number he wore for at least part of his career as well as to the 1960s British group the Dave Clark Five.)
